Who are we?
The Media and Communication Studies Students’ Council (MACSSC) is a student-run organisation at Western University that works to enhance the FIMS undergraduate student experience. We work towards providing a variety of opportunities by which students can become involved in the faculty, as well as aiding students academically and socially.
MACSSC is comprised of over twenty eager and passionate student leaders that have either been elected or appointed to their role. Through MACSSC, students can get involved in a number of different ways: applying for executive roles in early fall, and mid spring, working on and being published in the alternative publication OPENWIDE, Mediations and attending MACSSC events, general meetings and initiatives.
MACSSC runs events and programming throughout the year, including our formal, workshops, the Toronto Trip, and more. We work to connect students with opportunities within the faculty and externally in the Western and London community. MACSSC represents all students in the undergraduate program in FIMS and, as such, lobbies to the Faculty and represents them on University Students’ Council on behalf of student interests in order to ensure that the needs of all students are adequately met.
